Album Review - Jackson Browne, Solo Acoustic Vol. 2

YYYY Love it

Glenn Frey of the Eagles said he had never met anyone who worked harder at songwriting than Jackson Browne, and on this album it shows. I have to admit, I have a soft spot for Jackson Browne. To this day when I listen to Running on Empty it is like visiting an old friend. Basically in the 70’s Jackson was the man. He wrote beautiful, lyric, often tragic songs. What we have tended to forget is that beyond the somewhat dated production and a few really unfortunate radio hits (Lawyers in Love, I am looking in your direction), his songwriting has never wavered. It is unfortunate that on this album he is preaching to the converted because anyone who listens to it already knows the depth of his craft, but to hear the songs naked, with just his voice accompanied by guitar or piano you become introduced to another Jackson Brown, one that might make Lawyers in Love into a really good song.
