Album Review - The Black Crowes, Warpaint

YYYY Love it

For those of you who have said, “Jeeze, whatever happened to the Black Crowes?” I have some great news for you, they are back!! This is their first album in seven years and the time has served them well. The brothers have managed to bury the hatchet, so much so that they did a solo acoustic tour (and released an excellent live album called Brothers of the Feather), and learned that they could remember to do what they do best, which is play some awesome blues based rock n roll. The Crowes have always been unashamed to wear their influences on the sleeves, and when they were at their best they wore them proudly. From the opening track, Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution, you think you might be listening to a forgotten track off Exile on Main Street or even a more forgotten track from the Faces. However, as soon Chris starts singing you find yourself in the middle of something brand new and fresh and honest, but also something really familiar. And you know what, isn’t that what we loved about the Crowes in the first place?
